F O R B I D D E N A P O S T R O P H E
Picture this: You’ve written up some nice scripts for a texting campaign in some document somewhere. Perhaps because it’s easier to edit there, perhaps because you wanted to send it to someone else for feedback or approval first, perhaps because you just like keeping a repository of sample scripts you can reuse and tweak.
Finally, you’re ready to set up a New Peer To Peer Texting Campaign in CallHub. You begin merrily copy/pasting your perfectly written scripts into the Survey screen, when suddenly…
What the hell is this?! Why are you being charged for twice as many texts as you should be for that word count???
Look closer. It’s because you’ve used…
…the F O R B I D D E N A P O S T R O P H E
Despite that apostrophe being the preferred default by just about any other program you can compose text in, CallHub flips out when you paste it in and charges you for extra text messages.
But wait, there’s more! Not only does CallHub charge you extra for having the audicity to use the F O R B I D D E N A P O S T R O P H E, it then STRIPS THOSE APOSTROPHES BEFORE SENDING so that your contacts receive abominations like this:
That’s right, you paid extra for them but CallHub didn’t send even them and now you look like an illiterate jerk.
So, if you copy/paste texting scripts into CallHub from somewhere else, be sure to go through your text character-by-character checking for the F O R B I D D E N A P O S T R O P H E and other Unicode characters because if you don’t then CallHub will make you cry.
